2012 London Olympics Women’s Basketball Groups and Schedule Finalized

After the successful completion of the 2012 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament for Women, the groups and schedule of the women’s basketball competition of the 2012 London Olympics has been finalized.

Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Turkey, and Canada earned the last five Olympic spots and were drawn into the two groups that were determined during the draw last April 30 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Czech Republic, Croatia, and Turkey was drawn in Group A and will be going up against Angola, USA, and China in then preliminary round, while France and Canada were drawn in Group B that also includes Russia, Australia, Brazil, and host Great Britain.

The teams in the groups will go up against the five other teams in their group in the preliminary round. The top four teams in each group will advance to the quarterfinals, which will follow the standard knockout format.

  • Brazil vs France – 20:00

July 30, 2012

  • Croatia vs China 9:00
  • Czech Republic vs Turkey – 11:15
  • France vs Australia – 14:30
  • Russia vs Brazil – 16:45
  • Great Britain vs Canada – 20:00
  • Angola vs USA – 22:15

August 1, 2012

  • Canada vs France – 9:00
  • China vs Angola – 11:15
  • Australia vs Brazil – 14:30
  • Great Britain vs Russia – 16:45
  • Croatia vs Czech Republic – 20:00
  • USA vs Turkey – 22:15

August 3, 2012

  • Angola vs Croatia – 9:00
  • Russia vs Australia – 11:15
  • Brazil vs Canada – 14:30

August 5, 2012

  • France vs Russia – 9:00
