The BA London Leopards, Leicester Warriors, Bristol Academy Flyers, and the Derby Trailblazers will gun for final spot as the EBL Semifinals kick off this Saturday.
The top-seeded Leopards will be facing the Leicester Warriors in which they will be the heavy favorite, but head coach Dejan Mihevc knows that no team has distinct advantage in the final four.
“In the Final Four there are all good teams with good coaches and good individuals and it would be really unfair to favour any team,” Mihevc said. “During the season we showed that we can play the best and as a team when needed the most.”
Mihevc has the reason to be wary with their opponent for the Warriors were one of the four teams that defeated them this season, dropping a 92-89 decision on November.
Meanwhile, the Derby Trailblazers and the Bristol Academy Flyers will add another chapter to their rivalry as they collide in the other semi-final pairing this Saturday.
Bristol will go into the match with tremendous confidence after sweeping their two-game league contest this season, but the Trailblazers have shown that they can rise on the occasion in important games after defeating the Flyers in this year’s BBL EBL Trophy Final.
“It’s not a game that we can win if we don’t play to our maximum capabilities,” said Trailblazers coach Jamie Maudsley. “The challenge for me and my coaching staff is to get our guys as well prepared as we can and then when they step on the floor, they have to take the responsibility to execute the game plan and secure the win.”
Both games will be played on the Amaechi Basketball Centre this Saturday.
