France Releases Final Roster for 2012 London Olympics

Exactly two weeks before they kick of their campaign, France named their final men’s basketball roster for the 2012 London Olympics.

Tony Parker headlines the strong 12-man squad that is expected to contend for a medal in the upcoming London Games and is ready to give the tournament favorites USA and Spain a run for their money.

But despite being included in the final roster, Parker remains doubtful for the Games after sustaining an eye-injury when he was hit by a shard of glass during a bar-fight incident in New York City.

Parker, who has consulted with French team doctors and his NBA Team medical staff, will likely announce his decision soon -  a decision that would make or break France’s campaign in the 2012 London Olympics Basketball games.

Notably missing from the squad is do-it-all big man Joakim Noah, who will not play for the French squad due to a left ankle injury he sustained during the Chicago Bulls’ first-round playoff series campaign against the Indiana Pacers.

Without Noah, the other NBA players in the squad – Nicolas Batum, Boris Diaw, Kevin Seraphin, and Ronnie Turiaf -  are expected to play bigger role for France, who were drawn in Group A along with powerhouse USA, Argentina, France, and two more qualifiers.

France will start their quest for the coveted Olympic gold medal on July 29, but it won’t be easy for they will be up against the overwhelming USA squad followed by their matchup against Parker’s NBA teammate Manu Ginobili and Argentina.
