GB Men’s Team Dominates Poland

Great Britain Men’s Wheelchair Basketball Team had a smooth-sailing 75-59 win against Poland to bag their fourth win in as many assignments in the ongoing 2010 World Wheelchair Basketball Championship in Birmingham.

Simon Munn and Jon Pollock combined to dominate the Polish Team in the offensive end of the floor. Munn finished the game with 26 points, nine rebounds, and five steals while Pollock, who is the team’s leading scorer, had 21 points and game-high 13 rebounds.

Munn started the game on fire scoring ten points in the first period to give the host team a 20-9 lead. However, Poland picked off their rhythm in the second quarter to outscore Great Britain, 23-13.

Great Britain, which is handled by Head Coach Murray Treseder, managed to absorb Poland’s run in the third quarter. Jon Pollock converted a three-point shot followed by another jumper to give GB a five-point cushion. In the final period, GB picked off from where they left off and mounted a double-digit lead.

Ian Sagar, who was the top-scorer in their previous game, scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Great Britain.

Murray Treseder’s squad will try to go for a sweep of the elimination round when they go up against USA.
