Head Coach Chris Finch released the Final Roster of Great Britain National Basketball Team what will be competing in the EuroBasket Qualifier in Hungary.
Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng and former NBA standout Pops Mensah-Bonsu will be leading the team which is bidding to qualify in next year’s Eurobasket.
“Our goal is to win the group and get through to Lithuania next summer. It’s going to be really difficult, but we feel we have a good chance to win the group and get to the finals again.” Finch said.
Deng has not yet suited up for the GB Team this year, while Mensah-Bonsu played in the team’s friendly matches in Israel last week, where he scored 26 points in their win against Belgium and 25 markers in their lost against the host team.
The team finished with just a win, but Finch was impressed with his team’s performance.
“It definitely helped us to play three pretty tough teams” he said. “They all had different styles, which were good for us, and we managed to use a lot of the younger players. We played pretty well, and although we had mixed results, we found out a lot about ourselves and it was a really worthwhile trip.” Finch said.
“We’re fit and ready to go for Monday.” He added.
