An exciting Saturday of WBBL Championship action has seen Nottingham Wildcats deposed from the top of the table by Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters after suffering their first defeat of the season, while at the other end Brixton Topcats are back in pursuit of a Playoff spot.
Wildcats fell on the road at Team Northumbria, 78-73, as Fiona O’Dwyer (23) and Teresa Manigrasso (21) combined for more than half of their team’s points. Third-placed Northumbria have now won four of their last five, and restored their own title hopes with this win.
But they must catch Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters, after they went top earlier in the day with an 86-54 win over Cardiff Met Archers. Helen Naylor’s 28 points led them to their tenth straight league victory and they, like Northumbria, remain unbeaten on their home floor so far this campaign.
Finally, Brixton Topcats’ debutant GB international, Jenaya Wade-Fray, inspired a 42-69 defeat of Manchester Mystics, for their first win since November, as she hit 5/9 three-pointers on her way to 19 points.
