The London Lions have brought back former BBL MVP, Zaire Taylor.
The American joins Nigel Lloyd’s side after playing a leading part in winning the French NM1 Championship with Bloise Basket this past season.
Taylor led the Lions to the BBL Play-Off Championship Final in 2015 and was a BBL Trophy and Play-Off winner with Worcester Wolves.
The guard was the MVP of that showpiece Final, as well as being voted the BBL Most Valuable Player in 2014 after a season that saw him average 19 points and a league leading 7.1 assists per game – as well as grabbing an average of 4.5 rebounds.
Taylor had previously starred in Leicester Riders’ treble-winning BBL campaign during 2012-13 in which they won the BBL Championship, BBL Cup and the season-finale BBL Championship Play-Off Final.

“Zaire is a very good basketball player,” commented Lions’ head coach, Nigel Lloyd.
“He will elevate the quality of talent we put on the floor and is a floor general who can keep the team focused on the job at hand.
“I believe that we can continue to improve by adding players like Zaire to our squad, he was a huge favourite here and loves to play in the BBL.”
Meanwhile Taylor himself feels he has unfinished business after that 2015 Play-Off Final defeat at The O2 and added, “I have had offers from a number of countries but I like playing in the BBL and being in London, I have unfinished business here.”
The guard averaged 44% from the floor last time he was in the capital, whilst scoring 16 points per game and handing out almost five assists, – also scoring a season-high 41 points on the way to the BBL Play-Off Final. A graduate of Missouri University in 2010, he had a stint in Holland before finding his home in England.
Lions are continuing to sign up sponsors for an exciting season ahead. Early Bird Season tickets are available in the first ten days of June before normal prices apply.
