Point Guard Matt Guymon inked a deal for the 2010-2011 Season with the UCP Marjon Plymouth Raiders and became the second senior England International of the team.
Guymon, who was included in GB Head Coach Chris Finch’s Under-23 squad, suited up for the England National Basketball Team which competed in the Under-16 and Under-18 European Championships, and was also a member of the 2007 and 2008 Great Britain Men’s Squad.
The 23-year old point guard recently played for the England National Team that competed against Belgium, Luxembourg, Tunisia, and Ivory Coast.
“I am really looking forward to playing for the Raiders next year, with best supporters and game day atmosphere in the BBL. I think we have the players and coaches in place to have a great year.” Guymon said, expressing his excitement about the opportunity he received.
The 6-foot-4 Guymon finished high school in Oklahoma and was recruited by Oklahoma City University, helping them win two NAIA National Championships.
“He’s got some great experience under his belt. Matt’s a young player, a pure point guard and has had success at international level with the England and Team GB squads. He is a pass first point guard, handles the ball well and shoots the ball well from the outside.” Raiders Head Coach Gavin Love said.
