Cardiff Met Archers will once again pin a sizeable chunk of their hopes for the forthcoming campaign on the shoulders of star forward, Judit Fritz.
The Hungarian was voted the club’s MVP last season as she once again provided the bulk of the offensive production for the Welsh side, averaging an impressive 17 points and eight rebounds per game in the WBBL Championship.
Now ready to embark on her third WBBL season, the ongoing presence of Fritz in 2016-17 comes as a huge boost to player-coach, Stef Collins.
“We are thrilled to have a leading player such as Judit back with us again for another season,” stated Collins.
“She really provided a spark for us at the offensive end and was particularly effective for us on the fast break when running the open floor.
“Judit is such an exciting player to watch when she gets rolling and she made improvements from her first year.
“We now hope that she will continue her growth as a player from these first two seasons and can continue on the same path – getting better and better.”
She added, “Judit has been a great asset for the Archers programme and has also been heavily involved in terms of coaching in our academy and throughout schools across Cardiff, so we feel very fortunate to have such a capable and talented person on board again.”
Further roster announcements from Archers will be made next week.
