London City Royals have announced the signing of American guard, Wes Washpun.
He most recently played for Iowa Wolves in the NBA G-League having played collegiate basketball for Tennessee and Northern Iowa.
After going un-drafted in the 2016 NBA Draft, Washpun joined the Los Angeles Clippers for the 2016 NBA Summer League. Later that year, Washpun signed with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg of the German Bundesliga. On December 5, he left the team and was acquired
by the Iowa Energy of the NBA G League.
“On behalf of the whole organisation, we’re thrilled to be able to welcome a player of Wes’ pedigree to the Royal Family,” said Head of basketball Operations Nhamo Shire.
“We have high expectations for our team and most importantly, a deep-rooted commitment to our fans to do all we can to continue to get better and provide the very best Royals squad on the floor – representing the city the right way.
“We feel Wes will help us move onwards and upwards in our quest to be the best we can be and we’re all excited to see what his big game experience and scintillating skills will look like alongside our British stars come game night.
“This is another big step forward for our young franchise and we are eager to get to the next game to see it all in action on the floor.”
Washpun is expected to make his debut on Saturday against the DBL Sharks Sheffield with tickets available at londoncityroyals.com
