Laura Shanahan has re-signed for Cardiff Met Archers as the Welsh side continue to rely on the core of last year’s team for the new WBBL campaign.
A member of the Wales national team, Shanahan played in the FIBA Women’s European Championship for Small Countries during the summer and came away from Gibraltar with the second best efficiency rating on the roster. It was her third consecutive tournament and she also played in two Division C campaigns for her country before that.
“Laura is a great three-point shooter who has developed a stronger understanding and skills at the point guard position too,” said head coach, Stef Collins who is delighted to have another cornerstone of last year’s team back on board.
“She has shown a real hunger to improve and dedicated more time than ever within her schedule to hone her skills.
“Laura has really developed as a player as a result of her approach to the team.
“She is committed and dedicated to her own personal growth and is eager to raise the bar within our club and for the rest of the aspiring Welsh players – who will all be looking to compete in the WBBL and on the international stage,” added the play-caller.
Shanahan joins Sarah Wagstaff, Judit Fritz and Collins on the roster, with more announcements due soon.
