This week it’s the turn of Alex Owumi. A former double winner with Worcester Wolves, he is back in the BBL this season with the London Lions. He’s also an author, having written a book entitled ‘Qaddafi’s Point Guard’ in 2013.

How did you get into basketball? Watching Earl ‘The Pearl’ Monroe on old VHS tapes.
Do you have any superstitions or rituals before you play? I say a lot of ‘Our fathers’ just to get myself a little more comfortable.
What has been your best basketball memory so far? Winning a championship in Egypt will always be my best basketball memory.
Favourite basketball arena? The old Boston Garden will always have a place in my heart.
What sports do you enjoy outside of basketball and who do you follow/support? I’m a New England Patriots fan and I’m a Chelsea supporter.
Who would you want to play you in a film of your life? Michael B. Jordan seems like someone who can bring my life to the big screen.
If you could be a character in any film or TV show (current or past), who would you be and why? Tom Hanks in Castaway. I enjoy being alone almost all the time.
What would be your perfect weekend? My perfect weekend would be any weekend in New Orleans eating Crawfish and dancing in the street.
At school your best subjects and your worst are/were? My best subject in school was Chemistry. I really like to set stuff on fire.
Your coach has asked you to organise a team-bonding activity. What activity would you go for and why? I’ll take all of my guys fishing. I think that’s the best bonding activity.
Which of your team-mates has the best and worst fashion and musical tastes? I clearly have the best fashion taste and that’s it.
Who or what makes you laugh? Jamal Williams is a comedian.
Who and/or what do you find really annoying? I don’t really get annoyed at much. I just smile and keep it moving.
Finally, tell us something hardly anybody or nobody knows about you? I use my own bedding when I stay in hotels.
