Why did you choose basketball?
I used to swim at county level up until I was about twelve, alongside playing for a local league basketball club. But one day, I just got bored of swimming and decided to commit to basketball full time.
Do you have any superstitions or rituals before you play?
None at all. I used to put on my boots right first then left, but I forgot to do it once and ended up playing really well so I stopped.
What has been your best basketball memory so far?
Playing for my country at last year’s U18 European Championship was a great opportunity, but my best memory is probably the U18’s Final Fours in 2013. We were the underdogs going into the weekend as we only had seven players, yet we still managed to come second overall – beating our rivals at the time, the Haringey Angels in the Semis!
You have an opportunity to work one-to-one with the greatest women’s basketball coaches in the world. What would you ask them to help you with?
My ball handling – I really want to become a more confident and effective player on the ball, as I feel it will allow me to take my game to the next level.
What would be your perfect weekend?
Going away somewhere sunny for two days with my family and just relaxing.
At school your best subjects are/were and your worst are/were?
English is definitely my best subject – I seem to be able to write utter rubbish, but still make it sound good! Anything to do with languages was my worst – I have the worst French accent that you will ever come across (which I blame on my lisp by the way)!
You have one song, one movie, one drink, one type of food and three famous people to live with you on a desert island – what and who do you choose?
Rather Be by Clean Bandit, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, fruit (is that a food group?), Lemon Fanta and I’d cheat and bring Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake with me, so that I can have more than one song – plus Jennifer Lawrence.
Which of your team-mates has the best and worst fashion and musical tastes?
I’m always so jealous of Francis’ personalised training gear which she designs herself and that gives her the right to have the best fashion sense. Natalie on the other hand is kind of a hobo – her shirts and shoes always have holes in them. Cat definitely has the best music taste – it’s her that does our killer warm-up playlists. The Lewis’ music taste is a bit suspect.. Kaitlyn especially seems the have an addiction to chart music and she’s not ashamed to show it!
Who or what makes you laugh?
Anything and everything. I am almost always laughing at something, most likely at a really bad joke that I just made!
Who and/or what do you find really annoying?
Chipped nail varnish, waking up early and when people eat my food are just a few of the things that irritate me.
The Harlem-shake and the ice-bucket challenge – did you experience either?
No I just about managed to dodge doing both! I did do my bit and donated to an ALS charity for the ice bucket challenge though.
What other sports/sportspeople do you like and/or which other teams do you follow and support?
I’m not really a big sports watcher, but I love watching gymnastics – what those women can do with their bodies is incredible!
Your coach is coming round for dinner and you have to cook (no excuses) what would you make them?
Steak, followed by more steak – with a dessert of mini eggs.
Finally, tell us something hardly anybody or nobody knows about you!
I have an unhealthy obsession with Taylor Swift, which I guess isn’t really a secret to anyone who knows me, since I’m always singing her songs.
