Nottingham Wildcats have made a move to bolster their backcourt with the addition of Portuguese playmaker, Joana Ferreira.
Stepping out this season in Portugal¹s top-flight with Lousada AC, Ferreira also brings additional Liga Feminina experience at Academico and Boa Viagem-Angra-Acore.
She has also played in the second tier of Spanish basketball last season at Ciudad de la Adelantados.
“I am pleased to have Joana join our team which bolsters our perimeter options,” stated Wildcats’ head coach, Dave Greenaway.
“This addition to our team gives us a different dimension and will undoubtedly make us a better team overall.
“I am hoping we can get her acclimatised quickly and cleared for Sunday.”
Ferreira herself added, “I am very happy and thankful to have this opportunity It’s one of the best clubs in the UK and I feel that is going to be great, it is already feeling like that.
“I’m sure I’ll help the best I can and I can’t wait to get started.”
Wildcats are hoping Ferreira will be available to play in Sunday’s maiden WBBL Cup Final at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham which will be shown live on BBC Sport.
Her arrival also coincides with the departure from the club of Croatian winger, Tina Benic.
