Reigning WBBL champions Nottingham Wildcats have improved their prospects of defending their league crown after adding yet more depth to their roster with the addition of Vanessa Da Silva.
A well-known face in the WBBL since its inception via her performances with Brixton Topcats, the forward will offer plenty to the title holders.
“The addition of Vanessa to our team gives us great depth in the front court and are not only getting a quality player, but also an even better person.” stressed Wildcats’ play-caller, Dave Greenaway.
“Last season she was a consistent performer on the interior which eventually earned her a call up to the Portuguese national team squad over the summer.
“Her ability to defend and rebound and her willingness to be coached are all endearing qualities which will make our team stronger.”
Da Silva can’t wait to get started with her new team – although was quick to praise her former coach and team-mates too.
She said, “The last few years have been absolutely wonderful with Coach Steve Vear and the Brixton Topcats. I am grateful for my growth and the opportunity that they gave me.
“This season I will be taking my talents to the Nottingham Wildcats, a well-known WBBL powerhouse.
“To think that I have come so far in my career as a player to join this organisation is so humbling to me. I am very excited about this season, being part of the Wildcats family and playing for such a respected coach as Dave Greenaway.
“I am looking forward to an amazing season of more growth, friendships and experiences and I thanks Nottingham Wildcats for giving me another opportunity to pursue my dreams,” concluded Da Silva.
