WBBL Championship
Oaklands Wolves 65-92 BA London Lions (11-33, 28-53, 48-76, 65-92)
(Wolves: A.Carter – 19, L.Rouse – 13, D.Boros – 9; Lions: C.Breen – 28, K.Leonard – 21, S.Umeh – 17)

The BA London Lions responded to title rivals Leicester Riders’ huge win at the weekend with a thumping victory of their own to remain unbeaten, after comfortably beating Oaklands Wolves this evening.

Cassie Breen continued her outstanding form with another sublime performance, dropping 28 points after going 9-14 from the field, including an incredible selection of seven three pointers; she also converted 100% of her free-throws in another commanding display.

Lions guard Kennedy Leonard also impressed, scoring 21 points as well as setting up her teammates for buckets on six occasions, as well as making four steals – a total which was only beaten by Wolves’ forward Lauren Milligan who made five.

The away side also saw two other players reach double-figures for scoring – captain Shanice Beckford-Norton and substitute Stephanie Umeh with 10 and 17 points respectively, while Chantel Charles came closest in the entire game to a double-double, falling just one point short with a total of nine points and ten rebounds.

The Wolves have plenty of positives to take from the game, however, matching the Lions’ longest scoring run of 11 as well as being just three points behind the visitors’ total for points from players starting off the bench.

Amari Carter led the home side in scoring with a fantastic tally of 19 points, while forward Louise Rouse also got into double figures for scoring, as she dropped 13 points with an 80% field goal percentage, in addition to her eight rebounds.

The result leaves the Wolves in last place – while the Lions remain hot on the heels of the Riders who are also undefeated in first place four points ahead, albeit having played two more games than the Lions.
