British interest as German play-off final spots to be decide…

April 17, 2021 By RPJ Leave a Comment

It’s a big weekend for the GB athletes playing in the RBBL1 play-offs in Germany this weekend as the battle for a place in the Championship final reaches its climax with British interest in both games.

Helen Freeman’s RSB Thuringia Bulls hold the advantage over Baskets 96 Rahden – featuring Peter Cusack, Jake Robinson and Thomas Smith – after the first of the best-of-three semi-final series following their victory at Rahden last weekend.

Simon Brown and Ian Sagar will also head into the second fixture with a 1-0 lead in the semi-finals, thanks to RSV Lahn-Dill’s win away at Hannover United in the first game of the series. Both of the second games in the semi-finals will take place on Saturday, with a third game scheduled for the Sunday should a decider be required.

It’s another weekend in Spain where there is likely to be GB internationals in all of the weekend’s División de Honor games, including the potential for seven GB athletes to take to the court in BSR Amiab Albacete v CD Ilunion.

In Italy, Martin Edwards will play his final games of the shortened Italian season as his Special Bergamo Sport Montello play their final placing games against Reggio Calabria Bic Farmacia Pellicanò in the battle for seventh place.

Here’s the games to look out for across this weekend (all listed as UK times):
