In the NBA Draft Combine which was held in Chicago, top caliber players like Wall, Turner, DeMarcus Cousins, Derrick Favors, and Wesley Johnson didn’t participate but talents like Jarvis Varnado, Patrick Patterson, Paul George, Larry Sanders, Lance Stephenson were able to showcase in that event.
One notable player in that event is a player from Great Britain, Ryan Richards.
The 6-foot-10 Power Forward was able to impress a lot of scouts with his work ethic. He performed very well in the drills and he was able to compete against the top prospects who participated in the Draft Combine. He also displayed his smooth moves inside and his very athletic for his size.
Though he has his upsides, Scouts said that Richards still has a lot of areas to improve on to be an effective player in the NBA. His talent is vey raw as of now but with few more experience and exposure he can be an effective player in the NBA.
Richards first made noise in the NBA circuit in 2007 when he was just 15 years old. He became the youngest player to play the Nike Hoop Summit.
In an interview with Andy Katz after the NBA Draft Combine, he was asked what his upside is and Richards immediately answered that the best part of his arsenal is his ability to score the basketball. He also added that he’s a flexible defender because he can guard players in the post and even in the wing.
It remains to be seen whether Richards will pursue his intent to enter the Draft on June 24 and even if he decided to withdraw, experts said that he will still definitely have the shot to make it into the big league if he continues to work on his game and play competitive basketball in Europe.
