We continue our popular ‘High Five’ series with Cardiff Met Archers’ player-coach and Great Britain legend Stef Collins, who lets us know which five players she wants to give a big thumbs up to from 2015-16.
Georgia Jones (Leicester Riders)
I’ve played with and against Georgia since she was 16-years-old and it has been awesome seeing her develop into the most fluid point guard in the UK. She knows and reads the game so well and brings a reassuring calmness as lead guard.
Beatriz Royo-Torres (Sevenoaks Suns)
Every time I see Beatriz play, I am overwhelmed by her sheer tenacity and competitive edge. She brings great pace and intensity at both ends of the court. She’s very strong, can get to the rim with ease and rebounds the ball incredibly well.
Judit Fritz (Cardiff Met Archers)
The ‘Duracell Bunny’, Judit has become a dominant offensive player for us from last season to this season. Not only does she take on the bulk of our scoring, but she is often defending the opposition’s best scorer whilst playing a team leading 34.75 minutes per game for us.
Julie Page (Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters)
Julie may have had a brief hiatus after the Olympics before returning to the hardwood, but it’s absolutely fantastic to see her on the court again! Her skill-set and IQ are second to none. She has great poise and control in the key – she can finish in a variety of ways and really sees the floor!
Abigail Asoro (Team Northumbria)
What stands out the most is her activity on the boards. She uses her athleticism so well when it comes to rebounding at the offensive and defensive end. She is a tough match-up for anyone and has been instrumental in Team Northumbria’s success this season.
