London Lions fell to defeat in the Czech Republic on Wednesday evening as they lost 86-41 to Zabiny Brno in the FIBA EuroCup Women.
Lions got off to a slow start and quickly found themselves behind. After a sluggish opening quarter, they found themselves trailing 23-5 to their Czech opponents.
The away side had a better second quarter, outscoring Zabiny Brno 19-18 in the period but still went into the half time break trailing by 17 with the score at 41-24.
Brno, however, found the form they were displaying in the opening quarter. Again, limiting Lions to just five points whilst adding 16 to their own total. The home side led 57-29 going into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter was a low-scoring affair with Brno playing the game out to win 68-41.
The loss leaves Lions in third place in Group E with one game to play.
Shanice Norton was the standout player for Lion’s with 13 points while Natalie Stoupalova and Petra Zaplatova finished with game-high scores of 14 points for Brno.
