London Lions beat Castors Braine 69-63 as they picked up their second win in this year’s Euro Cup Women campaign at the Copperbox Arena on Wednesday Evening. A dominant, game winning, final quarter saw them overcome their opponents in a close encounter.
Castors Braine edged out Lions in a tight first quarter with the Belgian side taking a two-point advantage into the second as they led Lions 21-19.
The side from the capital eased into the game in the second and quickly levelled the game before moving into a five-point lead as the teams went into the half time break.
Castors Braine had a better third quarter, outscoring Lions 21-16 to level up the game at 54 apiece and set up a nail-biting finale.
Lions, however, had other ideas as they had their best quarter of the game, winning the last 15-9 to complete an impressive win against a spirited Belgian side.
Holly Winterburn led the scoring charts for Lions as she contributed 15 points and eight rebounds. Shanice Norton also impressed with 14 points and eight rebounds.
For the visitors, Valeriya Berezhynska starred as she finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds in a brilliant double-double performance.
