The Plymouth Raiders absorbed a tough loss in the second-leg on Sunday night but they still clinched the ticket to the final and will face the Newcastle Eagles in the penultimate stage of the BBL Cup.
The Raiders took an 82-89 defeat against the Worcester Wolves, but it was not to overshadow their huge 111-83 win in the first-leg of their semifinals showdown on Saturday night.
On Saturday night, the Wolves managed to stay toe-to-toe with the Raiders in the opening quarter that ended on a 23-23 standoff.
However, the Raiders got into the groove, while the Wolves lost their steam as the Plymouth built a commanding 49-34 lead at the half. They never let their guards down after the half-time break and took an 82-53 heading into the final period and held on for the rest of the way.
Jeremy Bell top-scored with 33 points, Lehmon Colbert added 27 points and 13 huge rebounds, while Michael Ojo chipped ion 15 points and seven rebounds for the Raiders, who shot 42-for-75 from the field.
Facing a 28-point disadvantage heading into the second-leg, the Worcester Wolves came out more aggressive and scored an 89-82 win, but it was not enough as the Raiders escaped with the aggregate win.
Richie Gordon shot the lights out as he finished with 34 points and 12 rebounds, Sherrad Prezzie-Blue added 19 points and six rebounds, while Carlos Fernandez added 15 points for the Wolves, but it was not enough to overcome Raiders’ huge aggregate advantage.
