The London Lions will be looking to taken on some valuable lessons into their next FIBA EuroCup Women games as well as their campaign in the WBBL too, after falling to defeat at home to Czech Republic side Zabiny Brno this evening.
Holly Winterburn returned to the starting line-up for Mark Clark’s team, and her influence was immediately felt as she dropped a game-high of 21 points, as well as contributing six rebounds, five assists and five steals in a very impressive performance from the former Leicester Riders’ star.
Brno also struggled to deal with point guard Kennedy Leonard, who added 18 points with half of them coming from behind the arc – as well as making six assists.
However, the Lions couldn’t find a solution on how to deal with Brno center Anna Jurcenkova, who was dominant on both sides of the court as she dropped a team-high of 17 points and completed her double-double with 13 rebounds – despite starting on the bench.
The result leaves both teams tied at the top of Group K with three points each while the other teams in the group, Castors Braine and Rutronik Stars Keltern, will tip off in a couple hours after the final buzzer!
